NEW HEALTH CENTRE: work to commence in January. Broadbents factory is to be demolished in January 2002 and a purpose built Health Centre for Mytholmroyd will be developed on the site. It is hoped that it will be open by Christmas 2002 with the official opening taking place in March 2003. The surgery will be of a U shape towards the back of the Memorial Gardens. The statue of the soldier will be moved back to a cobbled area.

ENGLISH HERITAGE GRANTS for Mytholmroyd businesses - from April 2002. Shops etc on New Road and Burnley Road are now being consulted to see if they wish to benefit from grants under the Stage 1 approval given by English Heritage. £93,000 has been earmarked in their budget for the next 3 years from April 2002 for Mytholmroyd.

In particular empty and partly vacant derelict historic buildings will be targeted and empty upper-floors. Building repairs - to the external and external fabric eg roofing, gutters, pointing, windows, doors, shopfronts. Reinstatment of architectural features - putting back lost decorative features where there is clear evidence of what existed with a wider benefit to the whole area eg shop fronts, railings etc. Environmental enhancement - works to reinforce the local distinctiveness of the area and reinforce the commercial attraction of the area eg prominent sites, public spaces, paths, roads, yards. Grants may be offered at a rate of 50-80% of total eligible costs, subject to a maximum and you would be expected to contribute the remaining 30-50%.

NEW HOUSES AT WESTFIELD: Outline Planning was granted last Wednesday for houses on the Westfield site currently occupied by BCA Leisure. BCA Leisure is moving on to land elsewhere and doubling it's workforce over the next few years.

IMPROVED SPORTS FACILITIES - including Swimming Pool for Mytholmroyd. A lottery application has been submitted for improved sports facilities at Calder High School, The Community Centre and the new Youth Centre

The station is included in the properties to benefit from the £93,000 each year for the next 3 years from English Heritage. The Railway Heritage Trust has offered 45K towards renovating the station building.
