First meeting of Mytholmroyd Walkers' Action Group
Thursday 26 April, 7.30 pm.
Live in Mytholmroyd and enjoy walking? Come along to the new Walkers' Group launch meeting. It will select the three local walks that we would like to develop as waymarked trails.
Last week, Rose Wheeler and Jill Liddington tried out one of the walks developed by Alan Brooks of Royd Regeneration. 'It was a wonderful route', they report. 'From Mytholmroyd station, we walked along to Bearley, then up a wooded path and out through fields to Midgley school. Alan took us above the Luddenden valley to reach Churn Milk Joan from above, then down past Foster Clough to Mytholmroyd again'.
The Churn Milk Joan route seems a strong contender; and everyone will have their favourite Mytholmroyd walks. Other suggestions for the north-facing hillside include Wood Top, Spring Wood nature reserve, and above Scout Road.
Meanwhile, we send our very best wishes to Alan Brooks who is going into hospital shortly.
At the meeting a member of the Hebden Bridge Walkers' Action will report on funding sources for information boards in Mytholmroyd town centre and for yellow waymark discs on the trails themselves. Once the three waymarked trails are agreed, we hope to produce a Mytholmroyd walks leaflet to be available at the Tourist Information Centre.See also: Hebden Bridge Walkers' Action
