Mytholmroyd Methodist Cricket Club was badly damaged by a fire which raged in the early hours of Saturday morning 25th September, 2004. The wooden pavillion blazed for three hours as retained firemen tackled the blaze. An investigation into the fire is under way.

Local people have been campaigning to keep the cricket ground on Scout Road following suggestions that the land was to be sold.
