PRESS RELEASE - Invitation to Regeneration
Four years since it became part of the Upper Calder Valley Renaissance programme Royd Regeneration invites the community to celebrate the progress the group has made and take part in opportunity to discuss future projects.
There are two events at which this opportunity can be taken. The first, is its Annual General Meeting at The Good Shepherd Church, Mytholmroyd on Tuesday 18th September 2007 at 8pm. Refreshments available. We hope to see old faces, and new, and encourage people who have ideas about projects and wish to follow them through by becoming involved, to come along and join us. Please contact Eric Alston on 07768 257726 for further details.
Royd Regeneration has been involved in the refurbishment of The Old Royal Oak pub, the funding of the Honesty Box in the Community Centre park, the upgrading of the entrances to Banksfield Estate, Clegg Nook, the park at Cragg Vale to name but a few. One of the priorities since 2004 has been the Ted Hughes project which has culminated in the formation of the Elmet Trust which has established an annual festival and is working wit Calderdale on the refurbishment of 1, Aspinall Street, the birthplace of the poet, for the use by the public as a holiday cottage.
The second event is a drop in, held jointly by the four town teams, who are all partners in the Upper Calder Valley Renaissance, to be held on the 22nd September at Mytholmroyd Gala site between 11.00am and 4.00pm. As well as viewing progress so far, there will be a chance to comment on the towns' action plans which will shape future regeneration projects and provide an opportunity to become involved with Royd Regeneration.
The Upper Calder Valley Renaissance is part of Yorkshire Forward's Renaissance Market Town Programme, and is supported by Yorkshire Forward and Calderdale Council.
